North Carolina center Armando Bacot re-injured his right ankle in the final minute of UNC’s National Championship game loss to Kansas on Monday night.

At first glance, the injury seemed to be a re-aggravation of the same ailment he suffered against Duke on Saturday night. But upon closer inspection, a loose floor board at the Superdome may have been the culprit.

Here’s a look at the moment it happened:

A piece of the floor appears to flex up for a moment, causing Bacot’s ankle to roll. He was not able to return.

With Bacot out of the game, Kansas center David McCormack was able to get good position on Brady Manek and hit a turnaround floater to put the Jayhawks up by 3 points. The rest is history.

Bacot finished the game with 15 points and 15 rebounds. In total, he played 38 minutes. It was a gutty performance just 48 hours after rolling his ankle vs. the Blue Devils.

North Carolina fans have expressed their pride and appreciation for this team in the hours since the loss. Hubert Davis echoed similar sentiments.
