Dontrez Styles is heading to the Big East.

Styles committed to Georgetown on Sunday afternoon. He opted to enter the portal back in mid-March.

Styles spent 2 seasons with the Tar Heels, but never carved out a major role in the rotation. He played in just 15 games this past season, averaging only 5.9 minutes per game.

Styles also played a limited bench role on Carolina’s 2021-22 squad that made the Final Four. He played 25 minutes in Carolina’s 2nd-round victory over Baylor in that tournament. He went 4-for-7 from the field and had 2 steals as he filled in for Brady Manek, who was ejected from the game.

North Carolina is still in the midst of building its roster for next season. The Tar Heels already have a commitment from 1 transfer this cycle and are expected to remain aggressive in the portal. UNC has also signed a pair of 4-star prospects from the prep level in the class of 2023.

Styles is originally from Kinston, North Carolina. He was the No. 66 overall player in the country for the class of 2021, per 247Sports Composite rankings.
