Drake Maye emphatically entered the Heisman Trophy conversation with his five-touchdown performance against Pitt on Saturday night.

The Tar Heels entered the fourth quarter trailing Pitt, but Maye didn’t blink. He led UNC to 21 unanswered points in the final stanza and a 42-24 victory.

Maye completed 34-of-44 passes for 388 yards, 5 touchdowns and zero interceptions. He also led North Carolina in rushing yards with 64 on 14 carries.

Maye was already on the cusp of the Heisman Trophy conversation — he was a +4300 long shot entering Week 9 — but now he may be front-and-center of the conversation.

On the season, Maye has thrown for 2,671 yards and 29 touchdowns while tossing only three interceptions. He’s also rushed for 442 yards and three more scores on the ground.

Ohio State’s CJ Stroud and Tennessee’s Hendon Hooker continue to be the favorites. But Maye’s performance on Saturday night has clearly swayed at least some public opinion.

Here’s some of the Heisman-related reaction to Maye’s performance vs. Pittsburgh:
