ESPN releases new bowl projections for North Carolina after Week 2
ESPN has updated its bowl projections for North Carolina following Week 2.
The Tar Heels are 2-0 on the season, but needed double overtime to survive App State over the weekend. Omarion Hampton led the way with 234 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns in the win.
Analysts Kyle Bonagura and Mark Schlabach are both projecting the Tar Heels to make a bowl game this season.
Bonagura projects UNC to play against Rutgers in the Pinstripe Bowl.
North Carolina is 3-4 all-time against the Scarlet Knights. However, its’ 2008 win over Rutgers was later vacated. This would be UNC’s first-ever appearance in the Pinstripe Bowl.
Schlabach projects UNC to face LSU in the ReliaQuest Bowl (formerly known as the Outback Bowl).
North Carolina has never appeared in this bowl game. The Tar Heels are 1-6 all-time against LSU. Their only win over LSU came way back in 1948.
North Carolina will have a chance to improve to 3-0 this weekend against Minnesota. Kickoff is at 2:30 p.m. ET.
