ESPN updates bowl projections for North Carolina after Week 6 win
ESPN has updated its bowl projections for all of college football after Week 6.
North Carolina is 5-0 so far this season and has picked up a pair of impressive wins in ACC play as well. The Tar Heels are widely considered to be one of the top contenders in the ACC and could compete for a New Year’s Six bowl this season.
That’s exactly where ESPN’s Mark Schlabach and Kyle Bonagura are projecting the Tar Heels to finish in 2023. Both analysts are picking North Carolina to face off against Ohio State in the Orange Bowl.
Carolina would earn the ACC’s automatic Orange Bowl berth in this scenario as Florida State is currently projected to make the College Football Playoff.
UNC last played in the Orange Bowl at the end of the 2020 season. That was the program’s first-ever trip to that bowl game. Carolina is 1-3 all-time against Ohio State, but the programs have not met since 1975.
The Tar Heels will look to move to 6-0 this week against Miami.
