Hubert Davis is unsure if Pete Nance will be able to play in Tuesday’s game against Virginia.

Nance is dealing with a back injury that could force him to miss North Carolina’s next game. Davis listed Nance as a game-time decision for Tuesday.

“But I do know this: he’s getting better every day,” Davis said.

In last Wednesday’s 88-79 win over Wake Forest, Nance injured his back and it forced him to miss some time. Nance only played 2 minutes before he left the game with the injury. The back injury prevented Nance from playing in UNC’s 81-64 win over Notre Dame on Saturday.

If Nance misses the Virginia game, North Carolina could opt to start freshman Seth Trimble in Nance’s place. Trimble started against Notre Dame on Saturday and recorded 3 points, 4 assists, and 3 rebounds.

On the season, Nance has averaged 10.9 points and 6.1 rebounds. Nance has appeared in 15 games and made an impact in North Carolina’s starting lineup throughout the season. In his last full game, Nance had 10 points against Pittsburgh on Friday, Dec. 30.

North Carolina will be on the road vs. Virginia on Tuesday at 9 p.m. ET.
