Hubert Davis gave a brief update on North Carolina’s Cormac Ryan on Thursday.

Ryan had a big day in Carolina’s overtime loss to Villanova on Thanksgiving, but had to leave the game with an ankle injury late in the contest. Davis said Ryan was “in a lot of pain” but said he was able to walk around in the locker room after the game.

“I didn’t see how he twisted his ankle, but obviously he was in a lot of pain. But he’s walking around in the locker room,” Davis said. “But I don’t have a definitive update on his availability tomorrow.”

It will be a quick turnaround for North Carolina, who is set to play on Friday in the 3rd place game of the Battle 4 Atlantis. The Tar Heels are set to face Arkansas in that contest on Friday at 1 p.m. ET.

Ryan had 18 points in Carolina’s loss to the Wildcats on Thursday. He also hit the game-tying 3-pointer to send the game into overtime. If he’s unable to play on Friday vs. the Razorbacks, it would be a big loss for UNC.

North Carolina is now 4-1 on the season. The Tar Heels’ matchup vs. Arkansas on Friday will be broadcast on ESPN2.
