Joe Lunardi updated his latest bracketology projection for ESPN on Friday.

North Carolina is still amongst the “First Four Out” section of the bracket despite its win over Notre Dame in the mid-week. According to Lunardi, the Tar Heels still have a lot of work to do to get back into the field of 68.

Lunardi wrote on Friday that even a win over Virginia this weekend wouldn’t be enough to push UNC into the projected bracket.

Virginia is currently a No. 4 seed in Lunardi’s latest bracket projection.

A victory over the Cavaliers would be Carolina’s 1st Quad 1 triumph of the season. North Carolina has struggled lately, losing 5 of its last 6 games before squeaking out a win in South Bend.

Virginia is arguably the toughest remaining game on UNC’s regular season schedule, but the the Tar Heels also still have 1 game remaining vs. Duke in the season finale. Both of those games will be played in Chapel Hill.

The Tar Heels may need a deep run in the ACC Tournament next month in order to reach the Big Dance.

Tipoff vs. UVA on Saturday is at 6:00 p.m. ET.
