Kamari Morales is staying in the ACC.

The former Carolina tight end committed to Boston College on Wednesday afternoon.

Here’s his announcement:

Morales fell behind other talented tight ends in North Carolina’s offense, but he was a consistent playmaker for the Tar Heels when relied upon. His best season came in 2022 when he 29 passes for 358 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Bryson Nesbit and John Copenhaver both had bigger receiving totals as tight ends than Morales did in 2023. Nesbit and Copenhaver are both eligible to return to Carolina in 2024, which means Morales likely wouldn’t have had a path to more playing time in Chapel Hill next season.

If both of those players return, UNC should once again have one of the top TE rooms in the ACC. The Tar Heels have already picked up a commitment from transfer quarterback Max Johnson, who should stabilize the offense following Drake Maye’s expected departure to the NFL.

North Carolina will face Boston College in Chestnut Hill next season. However, a date for that contest has not yet been announced.
