North Carolina suffered a tough loss to Notre Dame in its last game, but the Tar Heels still have a great chance to make the NCAA Tournament.

UNC is off to a 10-4 start in Hubert Davis’ first season, including a 2-1 record in ACC play. KenPom.com is currently projecting North Carolina to finish with an overall record of 20-10 and a conference record of 12-7.

KenPom is also predicting a solid run from the Tar Heels over the next several week. It projects UNC to win six of its next seven contests, with its only loss coming by one point.

Here’s how KenPom is projecting UNC’s remaining games:

  • UNC def. Virginia, 70-64
  • UNC def. Georgia Tech, 78-68
  • UNC def. Miami, 82-79
  • Wake Forest def. UNC, 79-78
  • UNC def. Boston College, 79-66
  • UNC def. NC State, 83-72
  • UNC def. Louisville, 75-74
  • Duke def. UNC, 80-77
  • Clemson def. UNC, 77-75
  • UNC def. Florida State 77-72
  • UNC def. Pittsburgh, 77-63
  • Virginia Tech def. UNC, 73-69
  • UNC def. Louisville, 78-71
  • UNC def. NC State, 80-76
  • UNC def. Syracuse, 85-77
  • Duke def. UNC, 83-74

It’s worth noting these projections don’t take injuries or COVID-19-related absences into account.

If North Carolina does get to 20 wins, it’s tough to imagine it being left out of the NCAA Tournament. The Tar Heels also have a tough nonconference win over Michigan on their résumé.

North Carolina currently ranks No. 31 nationally, per KenPom.

The Tar Heels will be in action again on Saturday against Virginia.
