Against all odds, North Carolina will face Kansas in the National Championship game on Monday night.

KenPom is projecting a some-what comfortable win for the Jayhawks. KenPom’s final score is 80-74, in favor of KU. The model gives North Carolina a 31% chance at victory.

Those are even longer odds than what North Carolina faced against rival Duke on Saturday night. The Blue Devils were favored by 4 points in that game, per KenPom.

That projection also doesn’t take into account a key factor that could end up hurting North Carolina.

Armando Bacot’s injured ankle could be a concern. His X-rays were negative on Sunday, but UNC’s chances to win could go down significantly if he’s not 100% healthy.

Caleb Love, who scored 22 points in the second half vs. Duke, will likely have to have a big game for UNC to win. If he gets hot from 3-point range, then North Carolina can beat any team in the country.

Kansas has been dominant so far in the NCAA Tournament. The Jayhawks have won 4 of their 5 NCAA Tournament contests by double digits. They controlled their semifinal game vs. Villanova from start-to-finish.

North Carolina is 6-5 all-time against Kansas. However, KU has won 3 straight games in this series.

North Carolina and Kansas will tipoff at 9:20 p.m. ET on Monday night.
