North Carolina landed a No. 8 seed in the NCAA Tournament on Sunday evening and will face No. 9-seeded Marquette in the first round.

The Tar Heels have been playing well lately, but did fall to Virginia Tech in the semifinals of the ACC Tournament this weekend. The Hokies went on to upset Duke in the championship game.

UNC is expected to beat Marquette 77-75, according to the latest projection from KenPom. The metric also gives the Tar Heels a 55 percent chance of coming away with the win.

Marquette is the more balanced team, per KenPom. The Golden Eagles rank No. 62 nationally in offense and No. 46 nationally in defense. Meanwhile, the Tar Heels are No. 27 in offense and No. 64 in defense. UNC will hope its offensive upside is enough to get into the Round of 32.

If that happens, North Carolina would almost certainly face No. 1-seeded Baylor in the second round.

North Carolina is 4-2 all-time against Marquette and 1-1 against the Golden Eagles during the NCAA Tournament.

Tipoff is at 4:30 p.m. ET on Thursday.
