Kirk Herbstreit believes Tez Walker will be a game-changer for North Carolina’s offense this season.

Walker is expected to make his season debut on Saturday vs. Syracuse after receiving his transfer waiver from the NCAA. Herbstreit and the College GameDay crew talked about Walker’s addition on Saturday morning.

He also compared Walker to fellow GameDay host and Michigan legend Desmond Howard.

“You’re talking about a difference-maker,” Herbstreit said. “Dez knows, when you put a Desmond Howard in your lineup, it changes everything. It changes the other receivers. It changes the running game. And of course it’s going to make Drake Maye that much better.”

Walker figures to be an immediate deep threat option in UNC’s offense. Last season at Kent State, he caught 58 passes for 921 yards and 11 touchdowns.

However, Walker is expected to be somewhat limited vs. Syracuse on Saturday as he works his way into game shape. Walker first learned that he would be eligible on Thursday. ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported that Walker will not start this week but is expected to be involved in the offense for a certain number of snaps.

North Carolina is 3-3 all-time against Syracuse.

Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday afternoon.
