Mack Brown on potential mayo bath after bowl game: 'I'd love to have mayonnaise in my hair'
Mack Brown spoke about the potential of receiving a mayonnaise bath after the Duke’s Mayo Bowl against West Virginia later this week.
Traditionally, the winning coach of the Duke’s Mayo Bowl receives a ceremonial mayo bath after the final whistle. After missing out on the opportunity two years ago after UNC lost to South Carolina in this game, Brown said he’s hoping to earn the mayo bath on Wednesday.
“I’d love to have mayonnaise in my hair,” Brown said with a smile. “That’d be just a tribute to winning. I’m not worried about that at all. I can wash my hair. I can wash my hair a lot better than I can clean up the mess after a loss.”
North Carolina has lost four of its last six games entering the postseason. The Tar Heels’ only wins during that span came against Duke and Campbell.
Getting a win over West Virginia to close out the 2023 season would be huge for a UNC team that’s hoping to establish some momentum going into the offseason. Carolina has not won a bowl game since it won the Military Bowl at the end of the 2019 season.
Kickoff against WVU on Wednesday is set for 5:30 p.m. ET.
