North Carolina adds all-conference offensive lineman via transfer portal
North Carolina’s offensive line picked up a major addition for the class of 2023 on Sunday afternoon.
The Tar Heels earned a commitment from Coastal Carolina transfer Willie Lampkin. He was a three-year starter at Coastal Carolina before entering the portal.
Here’s Lampkin’s announcement:

Lampkin was named first-team all-Sun Belt for his performance in 2022. He was second-team all-Sun Belt in 2021 and 2020. He can play both offensive guard and center.
He should be a plug-and-play starter for the Tar Heels on their offensive line in 2023. North Carolina struggled up front at times this season, which was a major reason for its offensive struggles over the final three games of the season.
Lampkin will have two years of eligibility at North Carolina. He is UNC’s first transfer portal addition of this cycle. The Tar Heels are expected to be active in the portal over the coming weeks and months.
UNC will play Oregon in the Holiday Bowl later this month.
