Love is a former 5-star recruit who chose to return to North Carolina and play for new coach Hubert Davis after a difficult freshman campaign. He says Davis’ mentorship has played a big role in getting to this point.
“He has high expectations of me as far as playing basketball, but also being a part of leading the team,” Love said in a press release. “But he also wants me to be his right hand man. One time in practice I was getting into it with (a teammate). He pulled me aside and said you have to know who you’re talking to and know your teammates. He trusts in me and I trust in him.”
Love, Davis and Bacot were selected in a team-wide vote.
North Carolina faces Elizabeth City State in an exhibition game on Friday night. The Tar Heels officially open their 2021-22 season on Nov. 9 vs. Loyola (MD).
