North Carolina beats Duke in Final Four, advances to play Kansas in National Championship

Against all odds, North Carolina pulled it off.

The Tar Heels beat Duke 81-77 in an instant classic in New Orleans on Saturday night. Caleb Love hit the dagger 3-pointer with less than 30 seconds remaining to put UNC up by 5 points.

Love finished with 28 points, which led North Carolina. He got off an 0-for-5 start but finished the game in brilliant fashion for the Tar Heels.

This loss effectively ends the career of Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski. He was coaching in his 13th Final Four, which is the most ever.

Duke had chances in this game, but struggled to score against UNC’s half court the defense. The T

ar Heels did a great job on Paolo Banchero and limited Mark Williams on the offensive boards.

Armando Bacot out-played Williams in a major way. He fouled out in the final minute, but finished with 11 points and a staggering 21 rebounds. He also helped put Williams in foul trouble early, which limited him to five minutes in the first half.

North Carolina will play Kansas for the National Championship on Monday night in New Orleans.
