North Carolina coach Hubert Davis gives injury update on Armando Bacot

North Carolina star Armando Bacot took a hard fall late in UNC’s loss to Miami on Tuesday night and did not return.

After the game, coach Hubert Davis said the decision not to bring Bacot into the game was precautionary. If the game hadn’t been out of hand — Miami led by 33 points late in the second half — Bacot could have re-entered the game, Davis told reporters.

Bacot put up 15 points and 12 rebounds, but he struggled more than that stat line would suggest. He turned the ball over 4 times and scored just 3 points in the first half. By the time the game got to halftime, it was already out of hand. The Hurricanes led by 27 points at the break.

Still, Bacot is a vital player to North Carolina’s success the rest of the season. He’s now recorded eight consecutive double-doubles.

North Carolina is still on track to make the NCAA Tournament, but it will need to play better in the coming weeks. The Tar Heels are 4-2 in ACC play and are currently ranked No. 37 nationally, per KenPom

UNC travels to play Wake Forest on the road on Saturday.
