North Carolina baseball coach Scott Forbes has been suspended for 2 games following his ejection on Saturday night in the Chapel Hill regional.

Forbes was ejected for arguing a call in the 3rd inning of North Carolina’s loss to Virginia Commonwealth. Confusion resulting from the lack of an infield fly call resulted in the Tar Heels hitting into a 4-6-5 double play.

North Carolina athletic director Bubba Cunningham stood up for Forbes and UNC’s baseball program.

As of publication, the NCAA has not explained the reasoning for Forbes’ 2-game suspension.

“It is incredibly disappointing to have the NCAA confirm a two game suspension for our head b

aseball coach – yet have no explanation for the call that ultimately led to the suspension,” Forbes wrote. “We must do better for our student-athletes and teams.”

The Tar Heels lost the game 4-3, which means they will face Georgia on Sunday afternoon in an elimination game. If UNC wins that contest, it would have to beat Virginia Commonwealth twice in order to advance to a Super Regional.
