“After discussing it with my family, I have decided to come back to Carolina and play football for one more season,” Vohasek wrote in-part. “i want to thank my family, my teammates and the fans for always supporting me … Thank you to the Carolina football program for your incredible support.”
Vohasek tallied 38 tackles, 4 tackles for loss, 3 pass deflections and 1 sack last season for the Tar Heels. His return brings a level of experience and production that UNC would have otherwise lacked on the interior defensive line.
North Carolina will be looking to improve defensively next season under new defensive coordinator Gene Chizik. The Tar Heels struggled mightily on that side of the ball in 2021.
However, Vohasek’s return means UNC will have a formidable defensive line next season. The Tar Heels also return Myles Murphy and have 5-star defensive lineman Travis Shaw coming in the class of 2022.
