North Carolina has emerged as a serious contender for 5-star forward Jason Asemota.

Asemota announced this weekend that he will be taking a visit to Chapel Hill on June 17. The 5-star wing currently plays for Hillcrest Prep in Phoenix, Arizona.

Asemota is the No. 22 overall player in the class of 2024, according to 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s also the No. 6 small forward and the No. 2 player from Arizona.

Listed at 6-foot-8, Asemota brings the size and physicality to be an immediate contributor for the Tar Heels.

In recent weeks, Asemota has earned offers from programs like Kansas, Baylor, Texas Tech, Ole Miss and Memphis. He’s likely to pick up even more offers as the 2024 cycle continues.

North Carolina doesn’t have any commitments yet in the class of 2024. However, the Tar Heels are in a great spot for 2023. The class currently ranks No. 2 nationally, according to 247Sports Composite rankings. That’s a good indication that Hubert Davis’ staff will be competitive in putting together a strong class in 2024 as well.
