North Carolina fought to last possession, but lost to Kansas in the National Championship game on Monday night.

The Tar Heels had a 40-25 lead at halftime, but KU responded with an impressive burst in the second half. KU took the lead late in the second half, but UNC was able to re-take the advantage in the game’s final minutes.

A late turnover from Kansas left the door open for UNC to tie the game at the end of regulation, but Caleb Love’s 3-pointer was off the mark.

Armando Bacot fought through an ankle injury and finished with 15 points and 15 rebounds. He also had a pair of assists.

Puff Johnson kept North Carolina in the game in the second half. He scored 11 points off the bench and played a significant role tonight due to foul trouble for Leaky Black.

Love, who also battled through an ankle injury for much of this game, did not have a good shooting night. He finished with 13 points on 5-of-24 from the floor. R.J. Davis also struggled, scoring 15 points on 17 shots. Brady Manek scored 9 points on a trio of 3-pointers in the second half, but wasn’t as involved offensively in the second half. He finished with 13 points.
