North Carolina football: Breaking down the Tar Heels' 2023 recruiting class so far
North Carolina is holding on to a top-20 recruiting class with just a few weeks to go before the early signing period.
The Tar Heels have recruited at an impressive level under Mack Brown. And while they may be taking a small step backwards this cycle, UNC is still building a talented class in 2023.
The group is largely built on defensive talent — something UNC has lacked throughout Brown’s tenure. Four of the top-five ranked prospects in this class play on the defensive side of the ball, including a pair of EDGE rushers in Jaybron Harvey and Rico Walker.
Offensively, the group is led by 4-star receivers Christian Hamilton and Chris Culliver. The Tar Heels also have a commitment from in-state quarterback Tad Hudson. However, all other offensive commitments in this class are 3-star prospects, per 247Sports Composite ratings.
Overall, UNC has 20 commitments in this class through mid-October. The group ranks No. 20 nationally, according to 247Sports Composite rankings.
