North Carolina forward Kerwin Walton is in the transfer portal.
Walton played sparingly down the stretch of last season, ceding playing time to starting forwards Leaky Black and Brady Manek. Despite Manek’s exit, Walton will be looking for a new program.
Shortly after thew news was reported, center Armando Bacot issued a message of support.
Walton is an interesting player — he’s 6-foot-5 and has a 39.9% career 3-point shooting mark over 2 seasons at North Carolina. That profile should help him land at another high-major program.
Last season, Walton played 13.3 minutes per game and averaged 3
.4 points per contest.
Walton’s transfer opens up a scholarship for Hubert Davis and the Tar Heels for next season. With 4 of UNC’s 5 starters returning, it will be interesting to see if Davis tries to find a stretch 4 replacement for Manek in the portal.
