North Carolina receiver Josh Downs appears to be close to a return to the Tar Heels’ lineup.

UNC announced on Wednesday morning that Downs — along with a couple other injured UNC players — have all practiced this week. The Tar Heels will evaluate Downs throughout the week and will make a decision on Saturday.

Downs hasn’t played for North Carolina since its Week 0 win over Florida A&M. He caught 2 touchdown passes in that game, but suffered a leg injury in the second half.

Saturday’s game vs. Notre Dame will mark nearly 1 month since Downs’ injury occurred.

UNC’s offense has played well with Downs out. Quarterback Drake Maye led the Tar Heels to back-to-back road wins over App State and Georgia State. He also leads the ACC in passing yards and passing touchdowns through 3 weeks.

Six different UNC receivers already have 100+ receiving yards this season. Kobe Paysour, who started in place of Downs in UNC’s last 2 games, is the leader with 172 yards on 14 catches.

North Carolina and Notre Dame kick off at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday.
