North Carolina has dominated in-state opponents during the Mack Brown era
North Carolina has taken care of business vs. in-state opposition since Mack Brown began his second stint in Chapel Hill in 2019.
Brown has led the Tar Heels to an 8-2 overall record against Wake Forest, Duke and NC State during that time. Wake Forest is the only other program with a winning record vs. NC opposition over that span.

Duke, North Carolina, NC State and Wake Forest's record vs each other since Mack Brown returned to Chapel Hill in 2019:
North Carolina (8-2)
Wake Forest (5-3)
NC State (3-4)
Duke (0-7)— Bryan Ives (@awaytoworthy) October 16, 2022
North Carolina’s latest win vs. an in-state opponent was perhaps its most dramatic. The Tar Heels defeated Duke 38-35 in Durham on Saturday night thanks to a last-minute touchdown pass to Antoine Green.
Drake Maye threw for 380 yards and 3 touchdowns in the win. He also led UNC in rushing with 70 yards on 18 carries.
North Carolina is now 6-1 on the season and has a 4-0 record in road games despite having a questionable defense and a freshman quarterback in Maye. UNC’s 6 wins matches its total from a season ago when it was a preseason top 10 team nationally.
The Tar Heels will get a well-deserved bye in Week 8 before facing Pitt at home in a crucial Week 9 matchup.
