North Carolina is firmly on NCAA Tournament bubble heading into Florida State game
North Carolina is sitting on the NCAA Tournament bubble as it prepares to face Florida State this weekend.
The Tar Heels are Joe Lunardi’s team No. 64 going into the weekend’s slate, he indicated on a bracket update this week. UNC is coming off a road win over Clemson.

Lunardi is slightly lower on UNC than the consensus, but not much. According to Bracket Matrix, the Tar Heels enter this weekend’s games as a No. 11 seed.
While North Carolina has avoided taking any disastrous losses this season, it doesn’t have any flashy wins, either. The Tar Heels have two wins against KenPom’s top 50 so far this season — against No. 47 Michigan and No. 35 Virginia Tech. Both those victories came at home.
Meanwhile, UNC has been blown out by every KenPom top-20 team on its schedule: Purdue, Tennessee, Kentucky and Duke.
Still, the Tar Heels will likely have a great chance to make the NCAA Tournament. They’re projected to win five of their remaining seven regular season games, according to KenPom. A win over Duke in the regular season finale would likely take away all potential worries on Selection Sunday.
North Carolina faces Florida State in Chapel Hill on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. ET.
