North Carolina added a big piece to its 2024 recruiting class on Saturday.

The Tar Heels earned a commitment from 3-star defensive lineman Leroy Jackson. He also had recent offers from programs such as Miami, West Virginia and Illinois.

He made the announcement during a ceremony at his high school on Saturday. Jackson is the No. 145 defensive lineman in the country for the class of 2024, per 247Sports Composite rankings.

Jackson attends Lee County High School in Leesburg, Georgia. He’s listed at 6-foot-2, 275 pounds.

North Carolina is likely nearing the end of its efforts in the 2024 recruiting class. The Tar Heels now have 27 commitments in this cycle, including three from defensive linemen.

Overall, Carolina’s 2024 class ranks No. 27 nationally and No. 5 in the ACC. The Tar Heels are behind Florida State, Miami, Clemson and Stanford amongst conference foes.
