North Carolina has made the Top 8 for Burlington (NC) Hugh M Cummings athlete Jonathan Paylor.

A 5-foot-9 athlete out of the 2024 class, Paylor included the Tar Heels alongside NC State, South Carolina, Clemson, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, and Colorado. North Carolina has been on the radar longer than just about anyone else, extending an offer to Paylor back in the summer prior to his sophomore season.

A 4-star in the industry-generated 247 Composite, Paylor ranks as the No. 2 recruit in the state for the 2024 cycle. He’s also ranked as the No. 101 overall recruit and the No. 10 athlete in the class.

Paylor has his first official visit scheduled to South Carolina for June of this year.

As a junior in the fall of 2022, Paylor was a playmaker all over the field. In 12 games, he ran for 1,054 yards and 17 touchdowns on 77 carries, caught 27 passes for 725 yards and 5 touchdowns, served as a return man for the special teams, and intercepted 3 passes on defense. Paylor is also a multi-sport athlete, competing in track and field. He won the North Carolina 2A state championships as a sophomore in the 100 (11.19) and 200 meters (21.96).

North Carolina has just 3 public commitments in the 2024 cycle so far.
