North Carolina officially announces bowl destination, matchup vs. Pac-12 power

North Carolina is headed west.

The Tar Heels will face off against Oregon in the Holiday Bowl later this month.

Here’s the official announcement:

This will be North Carolina’s first-ever appearance in the Holiday Bowl. The Tar Heels will be the first ACC team to play in this bowl as part of it tie-in agreement. NC State was slated to play in this game a year ago, but it was canceled due to a COVID-19 outbreak at UCLA.

orth Carolina and Oregon have never met in football. Both programs are in the top 3

5 all-time in total wins.

North Carolina needs to win this game in order to reach 10 wins for the first time since the 2015 season. The Tar Heels have lost three straight games, including the ACC Championship to Clemson on Saturday night.

Oregon went 9-3 this season and finished in fourth place in the Pac-12.

The Holiday Bowl will be played on Dec. 28.
