North Carolina will open the 2023-24 men’s basketball season ranked in the AP Top 25 for the 18th consecutive year.

The Tar Heels debuted at No. 19 in the preseason poll released on Monday. They are the third-highest-ranked team from the ACC behind No. 2 Duke and No. 13 Miami.

Coach Hubert Davis and the Tar Heels are looking to rebound from a tumultuous 2022-23 season that saw the team open the year as preseason No. 1 and close it watching the NCAA Tournament from their couch. Carolina went 20-13 overall and 11-9 in ACC play.

The top scorer from a season ago, guard Caleb Love, transferred in the offseason, but RJ Davis and Armando Bacot return to lead the team after each averaged 16 points a game during the 2022-23 campaign.

Newcomers this offseason include 5-star freshman guard Elliot Cadeau, Stanford transfer Harrison Ingram, Notre Dame transfer Cormac Ryan, Brown transfer Paxson Wojcik, Louisville transfer Jae’Lyn Withers, and West Virginia transfer James Okonkwo.

Carolina begins its season at home against Radford on Nov. 6.
