North Carolina’s Armando Bacot has been named preseason ACC Player of the Year.

Bacot returns to UNC this season after leading the Tar Heels all the way to the National Championship Game last season. Expectations are high, as North Carolina was ranked No. 1 in the preseason AP Poll earlier this week.

North Carolina guard Caleb Love is another Tar Heel who could have received consideration for preseason ACC Player of the Year. He made the preseason All-ACC first team alongside Bacot, Isaiah Wong, Terquavion Smith and Jeremy Roach.

Bacot and Love are joined by RJ Davis and Leaky Black as returning starters from last year’s squad. Davis was named preseason All-ACC second team.

North Carolina also made an impact addition in Northwestern transfer Pete Nance. Nance is expected to start at power forward for the Tar Heels this season, replacing Brady Manek.

North Carolina opens its season on Nov. 7 against UNCW.
