North Carolina quarterback Sam Howell may miss the Tar Heels’ home finale on Saturday with an injury.

The program announced on Monday morning that he’s “day-to-day” after suffering an upper body injury vs. Pitt on Thursday. However, he’s expected to be fully healthy before UNC faces NC State on Nov. 27.

The Wofford game is likely to be Howell’s last game at home in Chapel Hill. He’s participating in Senior Day festivities this week and is widely expected to enter the 2022 NFL Draft after the season.

Howell still has a chance to be one of the first quarterbacks taken in next year’s draft. He and the Tar Heels have had a disappointing season, but no other elite quarterback prospects have emerged, either.

Howell is completing 63.5 percent of his passes this year for 2,704 yards and 22 touchdowns. He’s also rushed for 727 yards and 9 more scores on the ground.

North Carolina needs to win at least one more game this season to reach bowl eligibility.

Kickoff on Saturday is at 12 p.m. ET.
