North Carolina snaps skid with affirming win over No. 7 Oklahoma at Jumpman Classic

North Carolina basketball pulled out a tough win over No. 7 Oklahoma Wednesday night at the Jumpman Classic in Charlotte.

The Tar Heels needed that one in a bad way. North Carolina had fell to UConn and Kentucky in recent matchups and though those are far from bad losses, a win over a top 10 team is as affirming as it gets as ACC play creeps closer.

RJ Davis was the player of the game, far and away. The standout guard didn’t have his most efficient performance but hit 5-of-9 3-point attempts on his way to 23 points, 5 assists, 4 rebounds and 3 steals. Harrison Ingram posted a solid outing too, finishing with 11 points, 7 rebounds and 4 steals.

The Tar Heels finished Wednesday’s game with 10 total steals.

North Carolina maintained a comfortable 5

-15 point cushion for much of the 2nd half, eventually taking the win 81-69 in a game that was slightly closer than the final score would indicate.

The Sooners, which was one of just 4 undefeated teams at the time of the game, simply could not keep up on account of 18 total turnovers.

For those interested, there are now only 3 undefeated teams remaining in the country, and it’s not the group you’d expect: Houston, Ole Miss and James Madison.

North Carolina will face off against Charleston Southern next Friday.
