North Carolina transfer target Pete Nance reportedly set to visit Chapel Hill

Northwestern forward Pete Nance will visit North Carolina this week, according to a report.

That’s per 247Sports

, who notes that Nance has one extra year of eligibility because of the pandemic.

Nance has seemingly been North Carolina’s top target to replace Brady Manek at power forward for next season. The Tar Heels were also recruiting Baylor transfer Matthew Mayer, but he ultimately chose Illinois.

However, Nance may turn out to be a better fit for North Carolina at that spot. He shot 45.2% from 3-point range with the Wildcats last season.

Overall, Nance is one of the top returning transfers to college basketball for this season. He tested the NBA Draft waters this offseason and likely would h

ave been a second-round pick had he chosen to remain in the draft.

Instead, he’ll return to college with the hopes of improving his draft stock and perhaps playing in the NCAA Tournament. Northwestern never reached the Big Dance during Nance’s time with the program.

Nance comes from NBA bloodlines. His father, Larry Nance Sr., was a multi-time All-Star. His older brother, Larry Nance Jr., just finished his 7th season in the league.

There is no timetable for his decision.
