North Carolina receiver Josh Downs will play for the Tar Heel on Saturday against Notre Dame.

Downs announced that news on Twitter on Thursday afternoon, saying “I’m back:”

Downs has missed the last 2 games with a leg injury he suffered in UNC’s Week 0 win over Florida A&M. He caught 2 touchdown passes against the Rattlers, but was unable to return after he came up hobbled after his second score.

Downs in arguably North Carolina’s best player and is one of the most impactful receivers in the entire country. Last season, he caught 101 passes for 1,335 yards and 8 touchdowns.

To his credit, redshirt freshman quarterback Drake Maye didn’t seem to struggle in his first couple games without the star wideout. Maye lead the ACC in passing yards, passing touchdowns and passer efficiency rating entering Week 4.

Kobe Paysour has been UNC’s top receiver so far this season. He replaced Downs in the starting lineup in the last 2 weeks. It will be interesting to see what kind of a role Paysour has moving forward as he’s proved to be an effective option.

UNC hosts Notre Dame at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday.
