Pete Thamel gave an extensive update on Tez Walker’s status for North Carolina’s game vs. Syracuse on Saturday afternoon.

Walker is set to make his Carolina debut on Saturday after receiving a waiver from the NCAA this week. However, Thamel reported that Walker will not start vs. the Orange this week as he works his way back into game shape.

Thamel cited a conversation with North Carolina receivers coach Lonnie Galloway.

“Walker will not start today for UNC but he will play at outside receiver,” Thamel said on College GameDay. “Galloway told me how many snaps will be a ‘feel thing. Could be 10. Could be 20. Could be 30.'”

Walker will be a massive addition to UNC’s passing game once he’s fully available for the Tar Heels. Last season at Kent State, he caught 58 passes for 921 yards and 11 touchdowns.

North Carolina is 4-0 this season and is coming out of its bye week. The Tar Heels will be looking to pick up their second ACC win of the season on Saturday vs. the Orange.

Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday afternoon.
