Report: North Carolina is ‘leader in the clubhouse’ for 5-star forward GG Jackson

North Carolina could be closing in on one of the most talented high school basketball players in the country.

The Tar Heels have long been in the mix for 5-star forward GG Jackson, who is on of the top players in the class of 2023. According to ESPN radio host Marc Ryan, UNC is now the “leader in the clubhouse.”

That tracks with the industry consensus on Jackson’s recruitment. Seven 247Sports recruiting experts have projected Jackson to pick UNC. Five of those predictions have come since the beginning of April.

Jackson is ranked as the No. 8 overall player in the class of 2023, according to 247Sports Composite rankings

. He’s listed at 6-foot-9, 210 pounds.

He profiles as an excellent shooter who could fill the “stretch 4” role in North Carolina’s offense. He’s also quick and powerful enough to score on the low block.

Earlier this month, Jackson correctly predicted that North Carolina would upset Duke in the Final Four.

Jackson is expected to make a decision in the coming days or weeks.
