Report: North Carolina WR Antoine Green suffers injury, could miss significant time

North Carolina receiver Antoine Green has suffered a collar bone injury, according to a report.

That’s per InsideCarolina’s Ross Martin, who notes the injury occurred during the Tar Heels’ scrimmage on Saturday. Martin also reports that Green is expected to return at some point this season, per a team spokesman.

If Green does miss significant time, it would be a big loss for the Tar Heels. He was North Carolina’s second leading receiver last season as he caught 31 passes for 612 yards and 5 touchdowns.

His 612 yards last season were second on the team behind only Josh Downs.

Without Green, North Carolina could look toward true freshman Andre Greene Jr., who was a key member of UNC’s 2022 recruiting class. He was the No. 11 receiver in the country for the class of 2022, per 247Sports Composite rankings.

North Carolina also has Justin Olson and Gavin Blackwell who could step into bigger roles for the 2022 season.

UNC opens the season with Florida A&M on Aug. 27.
