Sam Howell continues to have an impressive first season as the Commanders’ starting quarterback.

He led Washington to a 20-17 win over the New England Patriots on Sunday. He threw for 325 yards, 1 touchdown and 1 interception in the victory.

Howell led a game-winning field goal drive with just 1:49 remaining in the contest. Joey Slye put the Commanders up 20-17 with a 30-yard field goal, and Washington’s defense was able to close it out from there.

Howell’s lone touchdown pass of the day to Jahan Dotson was a big one. He found Dotson on a deep ball midway through the 3rd quarter to tie the game up at 17-all.

Here’s a replay:

Howell is having a great season with the Commanders. This was his second straight game with over 300 yards passing.

So far this season, he has completed 66.9% of his passes for 2,146 yards and 13 touchdowns. He’s also rushed for 157 yards and another score on the ground so far this season.

Howell and the Commanders will go on the road to face Seattle next weekend.
