2 Notre Dame players earn consensus All-America status
Notre Dame added two more players to its list of consensus All-Americans in 2022.
The Fighting Irish announced on Thursday that tight end Michael Mayer and defensive lineman Isaiah Foskey each earned consensus All-America status for their performances this season.
Notre Dame now has 108 consensus All-Americans in program history, which is the most all-time.
This is the third straight season that Notre Dame has had at least one consensus All-American. Three players (Aaron Banks, Liam Eichenberg and Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah) earned the nod in 2020. Safety Kyle Hamilton was Notre Dame’s lone consensus All-American a year ago.
Offensive lineman Joe Alt was close to reaching consensus All-American status in just his second season in South Bend. He was named first or second team All-America by all five outlets who are considered for consensus and unanimous All-America status.
Both Mayer and Foskey are headed to the NFL. Neither player will feature for the Fighting Irish against South Carolina in the Gator Bowl later this month.
