The 2023 NFL Draft is now less than 1 month away.

Former Notre Dame tight end Michael Mayer is expected to be picked in Round 1, but where will he land?

ESPN NFL Draft analyst Jordan Reid released a 7-round mock draft on Wednesday morning. He is projecting the New Orleans Saints to select Mayer at No. 29 overall. Here’s Reid’s analysis:

Derek Carr is the Saints’ new quarterback, but he has to get more help around him. He’s a passer known to involve his tight ends often, so adding a security blanket would be helpful. Mayer has the potential to be an instant contributor as a run-blocker and as a pass-catcher. He has the potential to be a key target in the middle of the field, as he’s capable of running a diverse route tree. He had 138 catches and 16 scores over his final two college seasons.

Mayer is the lone Notre Dame player who is expected to be picked in the 1st round of this year’s NFL Draft. However, the Irish have several former players who could hear their names called by the end of the weekend.

Here’s a breakdown of other Notre Dame players in Reid’s mock draft:

  • Isaiah Foskey: No. 53 overall, Chicago Bears
  • Jarrett Patterson: No. 168 overall, Arizona Cardinals
  • Brandon Joseph: No. 230 overall, Houston Texans

Last season, Notre Dame only had 2 players who were picked in the NFL Draft: Kyle Hamilton and Kyren Williams.

The 2023 NFL Draft will be held in Kansas City from April 27-29.
