3 Notre Dame players land on The Athletic’s annual ‘freak list’

Every year, The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman publishes a “freak list,” which highlights some of best pure athletes in the country.

This season, Feldman’s list of 100 “freaks” includes a trio of Notre Dame players: cornerback Cam Hart, defensive lineman Rylie M

ills and receiver Lorenzo Styles.

Hart is ranked at No. 38, in part because of his impressive vertical (38 inches) and track speed (21.7 miles per hour). He was also excellent on the field last season, recording 42 tackles, 2 interceptions and 9 pass deflections.

Mills comes in at No. 56. According to Feldman’s report, his bench press is up to a staggering 420 pounds. He had 3 sacks last season as a sophomore.

Styles is at No. 79 on the l

ist. He hit 22 miles per hour earlier this offseason, according to Feldman. He’s a potential breakout candidate in Notre Dame’s wide receiver room after he caught 8 passes for 136 yards in the Fiesta Bowl.

Hart and Mills will be eligible for the 2023 NFL Draft and could be high picks if they continue to progress as players. Styles is entering his sophomore season, so he won’t be draft-eligible until 2024.

Notre Dame opens the 2022 season with Ohio State on Sept. 3.
