5-star Notre Dame commit Peyton Bowen is keeping his options open.

Just hours after Bowen was connected to Texas A&M and Oklahoma (again), it was reported that Bowen will take an official visit to Oregon.

That visit is expected to take place this weekend, according to On3’s Sam Spiegelman. Bowen’s trip to Eugene will be classified as an unofficial visit, per the report, but it’s still a significant development in his recruitment.

Oregon is hosting undefeated UCLA this weekend in one of college football’s top games on the Week 8 slate. College GameDay will be present for the weekend as well.

Bowen has been committed to Notre Dame since Jan. 1. Programs from around the country have not backed down, with the Aggies and Sooners believed to be the biggest challengers for Bowen’s commitment.

If Notre Dame does lose Bowen, it would be a significant loss for the Fighting Irish. He’s the top-ranked prospect in Notre Dame’s class and has been committed to Marcus Freeman for nearly a year.

Bowen is the No. 24 overall player and the No. 2 safety in the country, according to 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s also the No. 5 player from the state of Texas.

The Early Signing Period is in December.
