5-star quarterback prospect CJ Carr was impressed with Notre Dame after a recent visit to South Bend.

“I got to be on the field with Coach Rees and really got to see how he ran the offense and how he coaches the quarterbacks live,” Carr said in an interview with Irish Breakdown’s Ryan Roberts this week. “I love what Coach (Marcus) Freeman is building. I really like what he preaches about always being a competitor and I also really like that he wants to win a championship.”

Carr is one of the quarterback prospects in the entire country. He’s currently ranked as the No. 6 quarterback in the country for the class of 2024, per 247Sports. He’s listed as a 5-star per 247Sports’ Composite rankings.

It’s still early in the 2024 cycle, but Carr is quickly becoming a top target in that cycle for Notre Dame. This was his second visit to South Bend, per Roberts’ report.

Carr is listed at 6-foot-3, 190 pounds. He attends Saline High School in Saline, Michigan. He’s also receiving interest from programs like Michigan, Georgia, Miami, Mississippi State and Michigan State.

Notre Dame is also in pursuit of an elite Michigan quarterback in the class of 2023 in Dante Moore. The Fighting Irish are hoping to hear good news from Moore sooner rather than later.

There is no timetable for Carr’s commitment.
