Athlon Sports released its 2023 preseason All-America teams on Friday.
Notre Dame landed 3 players across Athlon’s 4 teams. The Irish’s representation includes 1 first-team preseason All-American: offensive lineman Joe Alt.
Alt was a consensus All-American last s
eason for his efforts on Notre Dame’s offensive line. He enters the 2023 campaign as perhaps the top returning offensive tackle in the country.
Cornerback Benjamin Morrison was named to the 3rd team after a standout freshman year.
Morrison was a freshman All-American last season and was one of Notre Dame’s most impactful defensive players, regardless of class. He recorded 6 interceptions, 4 pass deflections and scored a touchdown last year for t
he Irish.
Offensive lineman Blake Fisher was named to the 4th team offense.
Fisher is another top reason why there’s so much optimism around Notre Dame’s offensive line this season. He’s entering his redshirt sophomore season with the Irish.
Last year, Fisher started all 13 of Notre Dame’s contests at right tackle. He helped clear the way for Notre Dame’s run-heavy offense and is expected to be an All-America candidate alongside Alt in 2023.
