Brandyn Hillman committed to Michigan on Sunday afternoon.

That decision comes a week after Hillman was granted his release from his NLI to Notre Dame. Hillman cited “personal reasons” for his release but did not share any other details.

Here’s his announcement:

In addition to Michigan, Hillman received offers from programs like Ohio State, USC, LSU and Wisconsin, to name a few.

Hillman’s recruitment was unusual for a player of his status. Notre Dame and other top programs got involved late in the process. The Irish didn’t offer Hillman a scholarship until September of his senior season. He committed to Notre Dame back on Dec. 7, 2022 and signed with the program during the Early Signing Period.

Hillman is listed at 6-foot-1, 191 pounds. He attends Churchland High School in Portsmouth, Virginia.

Hillman is ranked as the No. 214 overall player and the No. 9 athlete in the country, per 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s also the No. 5 player from the state of Virginia.

Notre Dame still finished the 2023 recruiting cycle with an impressive class. Overall, the group ranks No. 11 nationally per 247Sports Composite rankings.
