Notre Dame is closing in on another elite recruiting class.

The Fighting Irish currently have 21 commitments in a class that ranks No. 21 nationally, per 247Sports Composite rankings. With 15 blue-chip prospects, Notre Dame is likely to enter the Early Signing Period with one of the nation’s elite recruiting classes in this cycle.

This group is led by a trio of 4-star linebackers: Jaylen Sneed, Niuafe Tuihalamaka and Joshua Burnham. Receivers C.J. Williams, Tobias Merriweather and quarterback Steve Angeli are also key members of this class.

Brian Kelly and his staff went all over the country this cycle. Notre Dame has secured commitments from players in 16 different states, with no single state producing more than three prospects in this class. Only California (3), Indiana (2), Michigan (2) and New Jersey (2) have multiple prospects in this recruiting class.

Here’s a breakdown of Notre Dame’s 2022 recruiting class so far:

Class ranking: No. 6 nationally

Total commits: 21

Blue-chip commits (4-and-5-star prospects): 15

Highest-rated offensive recruit: 4-star WR C.J. Williams | No. 91 overall | No. 12 WR | Santa Ana, Calif.

Highest-rated defensive recruit: 4-star LB Jaylen Sneed | No. 51 overall | No. 6 LB | Hilton Head Island, South Carolina

Final thoughts: Notre Dame is closing in on its second consecutive top 10 recruiting class, according to 247Sports Composite rankings. The Fighting Irish appear to have found their stride under Brian Kelly, and are looking for their fifth straight 10-win season as well. Recruiting at this level will help ensure they continue that streak well into the future.
