Ed Orgeron speaks to Notre Dame players, predicts national title: 'How bad do you want it?'
Former LSU coach Ed Orgeron spoke to Marcus Freeman’s Notre Dame team earlier this week, and he gave a bold prediction.
“I don’t know when it’s going to happen, but with tis staff and this team, you’re going to win it all,” Orgeron said. “When it’s gonna happen? I don’t know, I can’t tell you that. How bad do you want it? You don’t have to wait for it. Why does somebody else need to be better than you?”
Here’s video of his extended comments to the team:

That’s an impressive sentiment coming from Orgeron, who led LSU to the National Championship in 2019. He parted ways with the Tigers last season following a disappointing stretch of results.
Notre Dame is recruiting at an elite level under Marcus Freeman. The Fighting Irish had a top-10 class in 2022 and currently have the nation’s No. 1 class for the 2023 cycle, according to 247Sports Composite rankings.
Notre Dame’s offense does have some major question marks for 2022, specifically at quarterback. There’s an ongoing competition between Tyler Buchner and Drew Pyne. If the Fighting Irish can find some longterm stability at that position, they should have no problem competing for National Championships in the future.
Freeman’s squad opens the 2022 season vs. Ohio State on Sept. 3.
