ESPN gives updated bowl projection for Notre Dame before Week 9
ESPN college football writers Mark Schlabach and Kyle Bonagura revised their weekly bowl projections for each bowl game on Sunday.
Schlabach projected that Notre Dame would play against Utah in the Holiday Bowl. Bonagura placed Notre Dame in the Pinstripe Bowl vs. Maryland.
In Week 8, Notre Dame handled UNLV in a 44-21 win at home. It was a crucial win that gave Notre Dame a 4-3 record. Quarterback Drew Pyne passed for 205 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. His two touchdown passes were thrown to tight end Michael Mayer and wide receiver Braden Lenzy.
The running game worked well for the Fighting Irish with three rushing touchdowns against the Rebels. Chris Tyree, Audric Estime, and Mitchell Evans each had one rushing touchdown. Notre Dame finished the game with a total of 223 rushing yards. Logan Diggs led the team in rushing with 130 yards on 28 carries.
The win came at a good time for Notre Dame following a Week 7 loss to Stanford. The Stanford loss was a setback for the Fighting Irish and they needed to quickly rebound against UNLV. In Marcus Freeman’s 1st season as a head coach, Notre Dame saw ups and downs through the 1st half of the season.
Notre Dame will look to start a winning streak in Week 9 against Syracuse.
